Smoof's Purkin' comes out of Hamilton, Ohio and combines the sound of rock 'n' roll and blues with folk, funk, reggae, and bluegrass intertwined with improvisational jams. The band started out in early 2004 with the core of Jason Zimmerer (Zim) on harmonicas, Scott Hubbard (Hubbs) on percussion and drums, and Jeff Frechtling on acoustic, electric guitars and mandolin. Matt Frechtling began sitting in on bass in mid 2004 and his lovely wife Jenny Frechtling began singing a few songs and some backup vocals. With Hubbs playing more of the drums in late 2004, Jeremy Robinson (J-Rob) began sitting in on percussion. SP is spreading it's sound around the southwest Ohio area, and is set to breakthrough on the scene with the unique sound they carry.
